Walk a mile in my shoes
Wear a smile through my pain
Pay a part of my dues
    You might fathom the strain

Lay a day in my bed
Kneel to pray at my side
Think the thoughts in my head
    It might temper your pride

Roll a die in my game
Take a cue from my gaze
Bear the brunt of my shame
    You might soften that blaze

When you’ve walked and you’ve worn
When you’ve paid and you’ve lain
When you’ve rolled and you’ve borne
    We just might try again

    Until then take your pride
    Take your anger and bluff
    Don’t ask me to abide
    It just isn’t enough

Hold my heart in your hand
    Cradled tender and true
    Ask me nice-don’t command
    I just might answer you

Thanks Hawa - wow - what a beautiful compliment (not that I want to make anyone cry - but at least it was followed by a smile)! Thanks for reading and taking time to leave a note!

Lol - I'm never sure (at least at this early stage of my poetry writing adventures) how long it will hold true! For now, it is an apt description of where/what I'm most able to produce. I'll continue to try to stretch my wings and grow into other types and styles of verse - but I figured it was a pretty safe bet on a forum at a place called the Rhymezone!

fly, fly, fly, and stretch your wings to the ends of the earth and keep going with your mind open with great poems. WHY? because you can

Beautiful expression of sentiments, RhymeLovingWriter. We would all hope that others might take our perspective now and then, just as it is our duty to try and take the perspective of others when interacting with them. (It would certainly reduce conflict in the world, if we could all remember to do this at least most of the time!)

Thanks pipersfancy - for reading and taking time to comment. So true what you say..the older I get the more I truly believe compassion (some would call it love) is the only answer to living together in any kind of peace on this earth. And one thing I like best about having found this forum is that I am able to see and read many other perspectives - many other ways of knowing and living the truths of life. Yet amazingly, despite differences of background - so many life experiences remain, at base, the same. We are more alike than we are different - and poetry has ways to bring that to the fore.

Very good observation! Now... if we can just devise a way of getting the general population world-wide to start reading and writing poetry... we'll be on our way!

      Well, I'm a rather a beginner, but I am enthusiastic - so I'll do what I can!

Heck - we're all beginners, RLW! At least, I like to think of myself that way. Of course, I like to leave plenty of room to grow!
