    "Give Me a Bigmac Please!,,

They tell us, "You live, and you learn",,
Sometimes "They," can cause you concern,,

We got into a cool little game,,
I'd let her pick the restaurant's name,,

Well, I lived, and I DID learn,,
    Learned to hate "Snaily" worms,,

I learned I did not care for sushi as well,,
Some of the Kung Pao was hotter than hell,,

We'd dined about everywhere I guess,,
It seems my pallet couldn't bear the stress,,

She loved Mexican dishes called "Red Hot Tornadoes",,
For me? Please, just gimme a steak, and potatoes,,

She was happiest at a place with "Joe and his crabs",,
I was just beggin for a Bigmac in greasy bags,,

I soon learned I was in way over my head,,
Some more spicy food, and my stomach's in shreds,,

But ya know, I really miss those times so dear,,
Only now that she's gone, Its become so clear,,

So take that loved one, and spoil them whenever you possibly can,,
I did with my love, and its made happier memories for this man,,

So Darlin where would you like to dine this fine day?,,
You can pick the place, and yes I will gladly pay,,

Somehow... romance and culinary delights just seem to go hand in hand... I like this, Robert! Well done!

So glad you wrote of the good times. That is what you have to hold on to.

My digestive tract does not remember this to be such "good times", that I can tell you,, But she was so ill, and I let her do, and have whatever she wanted if I possibly could. I tried so hard to bring her smiles because as ill as she was, smiles were few and far between.. That day at Joe's Crab Shack, she ordered 5 entrees, (she wanted to try everything.).. She couldn't eat it all, and our fridge smelled like fish for a week, The check that night for her was $94.00 but me? $9.99, but her smile was well worth every penny of it..

I want to thank you guys, These little side bar conversations make me feel wonderful. I enjoy the chat sessions as much as the poetry. Thank you

Robert, this is so great - the profile picture - sharing the good memories. You are brave and doing a very good thing. I know Michelle must be proud!

;Will you stay with me?, Will you be my love?, Among the fields of barley, We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky, As we lie in fields of gold...

Yes - that's exactly it - and every time you listen to that song you have her with you. In this case it's just happy and sad all mixed up together - but in time it will be more of a comfort than a challenge. My hubby and I have our favorites too - and just the opening bars bring back lovely memories.

That is just as neat as pickled pink peas. I heard that poetry was healing, but these side bar chats are quite neat. I had not thought of it until you brought it up.

No, I could have been even better. She deserved so much that I only wished I could give her, Like my life for instance..

No, I should have been better. She deserved so much that I only prayed I could give her, Like my life for instance

Your approach to love and generosity, as depicted in your poetic tribute to Michelle, is profound. It sure beats arguing for 45 minutes where to eat, only to finally discover the restaurants have all closed in the meantime.
