  • The Reverant Young Man in the Mirror

His hair is graying and his face is a little worn,
but his mind is as sharp as a tack.
    From the moment
    he was born,
till this day in time, no experience

    he would take back.

He's learned life lessons from mistakes that he has made,
brighter light comes out of the shade.
    Soul's innocence at birth
    experiences no lack,
while his mother gives a loving gaze.

He looks in the mirror over sixty years later,
he reflects on where he's been.
    He sees the
future as a chance to be greater,
    living more
    in the now than when.

All he's got is this moment in time,
    there are no guarantees.

Now he must try as hard as he can,
to see the forest for the trees.

This day that we have so precious in time
    cannot be taken for granted.

As we get older life's so sublime,
this young man's seeds are planted

Lol! I'll take your comment as a tongue in cheek Vera. It's actually a very positive message on "Aging". Whatever that is!

Thank you Bobby for bringing this back into the queue. The original posting was before I joined, and try as I might, I can't seem to get caught up in going back to see more of the wonderful work of the poets here before me (although I'll keep on trying). I love this line:
'living more in the now than when'
You are SO right that we only have the moment! I hope you have a lot of great moments today!

Huh. I thought I had posted. Not awake yet, I guess. Well, yes, you want to be able to respect what is reflected back at you, and if you can you should be pleased. Very nice, Bobby!

Nice, BDB! The mirror is our friend. Always honest. Often the first to tell us when we need to pay more attention to ourselves.

Nice rhyming pattern. I like the idea that the seeds we planted all our life bring on a result ..... the life sublime when they mature.
