  • Rhymezone Forum Rules

The following is a list of this forums rules:
    1. Flaming, Bashing, and Trolling - Hate posts and personal attacks will not be tolerated on Rhymezone. Treat others on these message boards as you would expect them to treat you. Posting topics specifically designed to provoke a negative response from someone (aka trolling) is also asked to be avoided. There are however some posts that will cause debates that may offend you. If you are easily offended by discussions about race, religion, and other highly opinionated topics we suggest you stay out of those topics.
    2. No Discrimination - You may not insult members based on their religion, race, sex, political beliefs, or whether they are gay or straight. This is worse than flaming, because it also hurts other members of the board who fall into the category you insult.
    3. No Hacking - This should go without saying, but you are not permitted to hack the board. Guessing someone else's password and succeeding counts as hacking. Members who hack will instantly be permanently banned without any warnings.
    4. No Nudity or Obscene Content - Such content does not belong on Rhymezone. Please remember that this board is a 'PUBLIC' forum. There are 12 year olds here just as there are 50 year olds.
    5. No Plagiarism – Plagiarism of another person’s work is not permitted. That includes both posing others work here and taking credit for it as well as stealing a members work posted here and reposting it elsewhere without permission or without giving proper credit.
    6. No Illegal Activity - You are not allowed to break the law using Rhymezone. This can get Rhymezone into legal trouble.
    7. Warnings will be issued to those members who violate the rules. Multiple warnings or serious offense will result in suspension or banning of your account.
    8. This is an English speaking forum, please type your post in English. If you don't speak English how are you reading these rules?
    9. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.
    10. No Spamming -We know it when we see it. But basically topics or posts that have no other purpose but to push a product, web site or service will be deleted and the poster may be banned, especially if the text doesn't even make sense and you are spamming on your first post. We can tell the difference between a member that is excited about a product or web site, etc. and wants to tell other members out it to be helpful and real Spam.
    11. The Admins reserve the right to add new rules as needed, although we hope we won’t need to because we hate rules too.

Don't forget to check out the articles in the (you guessed it) Articles Section (see the tabs at the top of the page). You will find it contains a lot of great information on writing poetry and short stories.

What rule did you break? I may have to ban you for 30 seconds.

not 30 seconds! *gasp* is rule #9 really worth such a harsh punishment? I think breaking it is punishment enough lol

True enough. I threw that rule in there just to see if anyone was actually reading the rules.

Am I allowed to post lyrics/poetry about depression and topics relating to that?

Sure. That does not break any of the rules. Welcome to Rhymezone by the way paintbrushguitar.

Thanks I appreciate that.. I was just making sure it didn't fall under the category of obscene content.. Especially since 12 year olds are on here.. I don't want to scare them..

You have not mentioned it in your original post, but may I ask if I am allowed to put a link (either in a post or in the form of a signature) leading to the main website I use for sharing my art (mostly drawings and poems) with others (which is not my official website as I don't have one yet, just a platform for various artists and art branches in the world)?

I understand that one should not spam, but I'm not certain if what I propouse is a form of a spam or not (because it's just my profile on that website, and I don't use it for selling products), that's why I asked here before posting elsewhere.

NPavusa, that is not spam. You can post a link to your site. Spam is replying to someone's love poem with links to sites selling body building supplements, etc. that have nothing to do with the poem or this site.

I needed to know if the contest ended at midnight last night or midnight tonight, I'm pretty sure its midnight tonight b/c so many are still posting but it doesn't state the time in rhe rules, I'm assuming any poem posted on 2/2 will ve past the deadline, I hope that it does so my poems count towards the contest, you need to create an option to delete posts for poems, numerous people made mistakes were they posted multiple times the same poem for the contest b/c it originally showed it didn't post so they can delete the extra posts that shouldn't be there, and b/c I didn't realize I was posting on the wrong forum I had poems posted here I didn't want to be posted here and I can't delete em so I had to edit the poems removing all the lines so they weren't posted but I can't delete the poems post completely like I want to I only wanted to post for the contest only and didn't realize until this morning I was posting on the wrong forum

Thank you for clearing things up for me Electron.John and I apologize it took me so long to respond. Lately I've been quite busy.
I do have one more question even though it has nothing to do with the rules on how to behave on this forum. I was wondering if there is a particular reason why the site logs me off automatically after, I don't know, 3-5 minutes of inactivity (maybe a bit more, I'm not really sure)?
And if there is a way this automatic log off feature can be disabled in settings or something?
Thank you very much for your time and support!

I've experienced that same problem. Sometimes I'm typing away for awhile, then go to post and discover that I've been logged out.

OK so I doubled the time before you are logged out when inactive. It was 15 minutes and now it is 30mins.

Um, Brushpaintguitar... I'm pretty sure that poems on depression won't scare most 12 year olds. Most.

                        Hi.
I'm new here, but have used your rhymezone website on many occasions.

I've written a piece to enter in the "Community" competition, & will post it shortly.

In short I wanted to say that the standard of reason & rhyme I've read here is GREAT.

I've read your forum rules & wanted to thank you for welcoming me into your fold.

I've had an EXCEPTIONALY COLOURFUL LIFE, full of acute highs & Lows.

                        Thanks for having me here.
                        Regards Billie Burd from Oz....
