• Introduce Yourself!

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the Rhymezone community. Go ahead and introduce yourself and don't be afraid to tell us about yourself! The more we know about each other the closer we will become and the more we will all enjoy our time here. I also want to encourage everyone to fill out their profile page for the same reason. Thanks to Danette Tirrell for the idea to start this topic.

I will start. I love doing a lot of things but enjoy being a father to my 6 year old girl and 9 year old boy most of all. I have been married since 2001 which, nowadays is impressive I guess. I own and operate an analytical microscopy lab which basically is CSI for businesses. We identify unknowns, find out why things failed and take pictures of very little things with electron microscopes (hence my forum name). I have a lot of hobbies including geocaching, hiking, rock climbing, disc golf, fly fishing, magic, running obstacle course races like the Spartan Races, coaching soccer, reading and collecting coins. I like reading science fiction and books about peoples stories of survival through tough times like Unbroken, Lone Survivor and House to House. I read much more poetry than I write but when I do write it is mostly humor stuff. I originally joined Rhymezone back in Aug. of 2002.

Hi!!

OH goodness!! Where to begin? Haha...

Well, first, I've been using Rhymezone for, wow...umm...many moons now! I don't even remember how I found it, but I always thought it was my little secret I couldn't tell anyone about because they would scoff at my poetry. I don't believe that now! Ha!

Second, I'm A.J. Wagoner from Eustis, Florida and a poet. <---You didn't see that last part coming did you?? Haha. Anyways, I have done many different things. In 2010/2011 I went on a trip called The World Race, an 11 country, 11 month missions trip (my faith is my breath...and words/poetry) to serve missionaries, ministries and NGO's in Central America, SouthEast Asia, East Africa and finally in India. A life-changing trip. Wow! I'm still in the process of publishing my first poetry book of the 52 poems I wrote on my journey. It will happen 'soon' (waiting on a friend from college who is doing the book cover).

In other things, I love to write prophetic (or encouraging/edifying) poetry and poetry about anything/everything really. In 2012 I signed up and took Coursera's Modern and Contemporary American Poetry course (ModPo for short) and absolutely LOVED it! It opened up my thoughts on poetry and its potential ten-fold! Renewed my love to read and write (breathe) poetry. I recommend the course.

Yeah, I'm not sure what to say. You can check out my poetry at ajwagoner.com. Thanks!

(Oh and JUST NOW within the last few hours figured out there were forums on here...what the what?! haha)

Welcome to the forums A.J.! Did you go back to your 52 poems and rework them after taking that ModPo course? I am curious if you saw your pre-course poems differently after taking the course.

Thanks! I've relooked at them, but not sure I'll change them as I want to keep them true to the time I wrote them as the emotion I wrote them in is particular to those poems. If that makes sense.

Hi! My real name's actually Myiesha, and I came to Rhymezone when I wanted to look for some rhymes. Eventually, I thought why not make an account? I made it this year, and have no regrets.
I'm no good at making poetry at all! >.< I fall inferior to your amazing poetry!! I'm not really an adult, so you'd assume. My hobbies are watching anime, reading manga, reading anything, really, drawing, writing fanficting (Oh god, do Iove doing that!) and basketball. Really, since I'm somewhat Arab people look at me like, "OH NO!! Here comes the terrorist that I saw on T.V. last night!" and "Oh hey, that's the race that blew upthe Twin Towers!" WHO AM I? OSAMA BIN LADEN?!

The first people that really inspired me to make an account was Electron.John and The kurlman. Really, what you guys do are amazing. I'm sick of being stared at cuz I'm a Muslim -.-. "Oh WOW ok your a RagHead? Well, don't come near my child you bafoon, or I'll bomb YOU!" or "In America, 'you're the bomb' is usually a COMPLIMENT!" Someone back me up here?

Sorry for putting my life in this. Anyhow, I love rhyming and stories. Writing is in me! Hopefully I'll be a better member. Hey, can you tell me how to put a picture on my avatar? It says I don't have permission to do so.

Hi my name is Lynn and I stumbled across Rhymezone a few years ago. I just love it because I am often called to "make a poem" on a moment's notice.......like for a Board Meeting or something and I try and keep the theme of the poem tight while searching for appropriate words to rhyme with what I've got. I never knew there was such a thing a forced rhymes, but instinctively I find that I have been doing that all along. Who knew? Anyway, thank you so much for all your help and for giving me the chance to show a little bit of what I have written.

Oi, that sounded lame. I mean that all along I tried not to rhyme wierd thoughts together. I have tried to stick to a story line without just putting in anything that rhymed.

No worries! I'm not Electron.John, but welcome to Rhymezone! Good idea to join.

Just became a member and posted first poem or as someone might say "Poem?" So, I just like to write and really "do my own thing!" Certainly, not near the writing of you experts! So what, I'm almost 77 years old. We old folk pretty much do what we want and don't worry too much about what others think. Shameful! I used to worry what others were thinking about me, only to discover that many of them were not thinking of me at all. Ha! Ha! Looking forward to reading many of the entries and finding out who makes that Number 1 spot. tigerman.

Good to see you here, tigerman. I read that people aren't thinking about "me" at all anymore because they don't use their brains that much - or they are checking their texts!! Anyway, I'm a new member too. God bless.

Tigerman - I'm not yet 77, but on my way, and loved the part about "doing what I want and not worrying too much what others think".

My real name is Ariel (and no mermaid jokes or you are dead). I'm almost fifteen, and developed a love for poetry during an AP Language and Compostion class last year. A good friend of mine introduced me to RhymeZone; and I found out about the forum just a little while ago. The thing I have really noticed about this small community is that everyone is very supportive of each other, which is different than some other writing sites I've been on.

I'm an average, highly disorganized person (my room has given up on me), and have been known to spontaineously burst into Disney songs. Comebacks and sarcasm are some of my specialties.

And, naturally, I love a good paradox.

Well, Little Mermaid, I love writing and Composition as much as you do. Sarcasm and bluntness is also my specialty. And yes, my room has also given up on me. It happens to all 15 year olds...We have a lot in common. *raises eyebrows*

Everyone IS very supportive of each other here. I came to this website when I was writing a poem (as expected) and I stumbled upon this site. I made an account when it said I could. I'm expecting my writing notebook to be filled with Sharpie doodles and poems at the end of this year.

Why, Little Mermaid, you burst into Disney songs randomly? I burst into rock songs by "Skillet" and "Three Days Grace". This is why people find me eccentric, as an anime fan. I can like my own things, thank you very much. ─_─

And, naturally, they call me a devil's (Diablo meaning "devil" in Spanish) jinx.

My name is Tim. My user name is a fun thing to figure out
I'm 31 and I work as a software engineer developing business apps and my education is in Computer science but I've been writing poetry and lyrical essays since my early teens. I like this site a lot and decided to use it to share some of my ideas and writings, enjoy being a part of the community, and hopefully grow and develop as a writer.
My hobbies:
The things which I do very occasionally, but have in the past done more regularly, and would like to do more often, but probably won't: Skiing, Tennis, Disc golfing, Hiking, Camping, River tubing, Meditation (self-awareness Buddhist type thing), travelling, wine drinking... etc.
The things which I actually do: Movie watching, reading, writing, hanging with awesome friends, playing music, working on my house, cooking, watching sports...
My favorite authors: Neil Gaiman, TS Eliot, Paul Johnson (the Margaret Thatcher crony), Soren Kierkegaard... I also love reading short stories... and I'm a comic book nerd!

Hello. I write poetry, fiction, and essays. I play guitar and draw. It's about all I have left that I can still do. I used to hike, go to concerts and rush the mosh pit, fish, ride my bike, and walk everywhere. Now I am pretty stationary by necessity. I don't like it, but that's the way things go. I write to keep from going nuts because of it. I'm not typically a very talkative or particularly pleasant person, but that's just how I am. It isn't usually because I don't like who I am talking to.
