  • Thank you for the tomato suggestion! We do get lots of rain, high humidity during the summer.

      • I figured it would work well with the description of your environment I had.

        • Busy busy busy times. Husband started a new job last week, he's delivering propane and it's a pretty significant pay increase from his previous job. Got my car back from the body shop all repaired and nice, then a week later had to replace two tires because I picked up a chunk of metal and punctured one. Pretty much got everything set for my daughter's birthday party in a week, now just hoping there are no COVID cases that pop up at the nursing home my mom is at--if a staff member or resident tests positive, they lock down and can't have visitors or leave except for medical appointments until either 10 days of quarantine have passed or there are negative results.

Still trying to find a new job myself, had a couple interviews last week that seem promising. But as usual, it's wait and see and "we'll let you know either way".

Also been dealing with illness in the house. My daughter had adenovirus over the last week or so. Poor girl's eyes were so red and bloodshot, and such dark circles under her eyes that she looked like she had two black eyes. She's starting to feel better, just trying to shake off the cough. But of course my husband caught it so he's been miserable the last couple days.

          • My daughter will be one on Wednesday. It's so crazy to believe she'll be a year old--and what a year it's been! Parenthood is wild, and during a pandemic it's parenting on extreme mode.

                • Yesterday we pulled almost the last plant in the garden. We're predicted to get a hard freeze sometime this week, so it seemed time.

                  • I say "almost the last plant" because this is the first year we're trying horseradish. The plants still look great but according to what we've read you are supposed to wait until AFTER the first hard freeze to harvest it. So, that's left.

                    • I had hoped to do more prep on the beds for next year (i.e. repositioning trellises, adding new soil, devising a couple more small beds...). None of that happened - yet. We may yet get a nice day or two in November, and if not, it can wait until early spring.
