  • Do y'alls care about/discuss compound/internal rhyme schemes here?

Like does anyone here care about poets/artists doing like 5-7 syllable rhyme schemes and like discussing that kind of stuff? Every where I've gone so far nobody's seemed to care at all about complex rhyme schemes, believe that assonance (when doing internals and compound rhyme schemes) is a form of rhyming, etc. Idk. Just sort of felt like an outcast on alot of Rap forums (and rap is poetry, if it ain't poetry on paper then it ain't really rap lol, stands for rhythm and poetry) when I wanted to discuss complex rhyme schemes of certain artists and whatnot. Just kinda wanna find a safe space :P I'd go on Genius lyrics and people would tell me rhyming skills and lyrics didn't matter, would go to other forums would say similar things. Just trying to find a place where I can discuss the poetry that is rap. If anyone here could give me general feel for the place would appreciate it, thanks

Hi Hetero Sapien. Over on the 'Share poetry and lyrics' forum, there are a number of seasoned poetic practitioners who care very much about syllable counts, complex rhyme schemes, assonance, consonance, alliteration, ... the whole gamut of poetic devices. The astonishing RhymeLovingWriter often shares splendid examples of very demanding poetic forms, as does N Y Sonnet, who takes a traditional approach to rhyme and meter in her intricately worked pieces. We have the inimitable Dwayne, who specialises in prophetic incandescence, Suz-zen, high priestess of sensory evanescence, and Parkinsonspoet, who experiments wittily with various structures to charming effect, an authentic and infectious optimism always lurking. Tanner is a poet's poet who writes idiosyncratic haiku and longer, reflective pieces of profound beauty, while The second shares raw, brilliantly phrased freeform reflections of searing intensity. amenOra will take you on vivid mind-trips, pieces brimming with ideas, allusions, and dazzling imagery. AlexandratheLate specialises in lyrical, long-lined quatrains with a ruefully wise, lushly romantic sensibility. BobGrantKC is a master of the humorous rhyme, with an unerring sense of meter and great eye for the offbeat. rhymetime has a gift for capturing timeless truths movingly with simple, uncluttered phrases. Johntee keeps us all guessing with sharply original, enigmatic comments-in-verse, always skilfully worked. divot is dependably wry, clever, and by turns gimlet-eyed and moving. Bobby Del Boy is the pastoral heart of the Zone, always keeping it positive with his uplifting rhymes, emotive or humorous, and his supportive comments. Muttado is ever ready with an encouraging comment and a wink, and is a genius at a short form actually invented on the Zone – the ha’sonnet. mooneyblack takes wise and poignant observations of life and works them into gently metered, meditative verse that wins hearts. Some less frequent but established posters whose work is always worth a look are Bison, benjaminallentx, BiocideJ, and darthvader. If you want to go digging back into the forum's recent past, look out for the peerless maestro MHenry, the very gifted and learned pipersfancy (whose comments are an education), and the Irish master-balladeer Tony Grannell; of course there are other great posters too numerous to name, going way back. Last and definitely not least there is lunar glide, whose poems of sheer lyrical beauty are much loved among forum-users. It is no exaggeration to say that lunar glide’s words are imbued with the very light of the moon.
